Practice meets theory in Fürstenfeld
From Tuesday, March 10, to Thursday, March 12, 2026, an exclusive seminar was held at the Fürstenfeld State Vocational School for vocational school teachers specializing in carpentry, parquet flooring, flooring installation, and painting. Under the theme “Parquet Flooring at the Forefront of the Times,” participants were able to update their expertise in parquet installation, surface treatment, and maintenance.
Practical Hardwood Flooring Training: Installation, Surface Treatment, Maintenance, and Repair with Expert Guidance
Mr. Volker Schrutka, now Head of Sales at Bona’s Vienna office, led the hands-on portion of the training, drawing on his nearly 40 years of practical experience in parquet installation, and was on hand to offer advice and assistance to all participants, who actively participated in the work on sample surfaces: From sanding and wetting to color oiling and hard wax oiling, the participants gained valuable and practical insights into the professional surface treatment of parquet floors.
Equally important was the contribution of Mr. Klaus Bauer—Head of R&D at Scheucher Parkett—who trained the participants in several areas and, together with Volker Schrutka, supervised the practical exercises:
- Theory: History of parquet flooring and an overview of the various installation methods
- Practical: Installing Chevron flooring with MULTIflor.11 NOVOLOC® 5G interlocking system and the benefits of the Scheucher installation aid.
- Edge frieze design: Use of groove cutters for a perfect result
- Care & Repair: Application of the Seda care set and the repair set for long-lasting results

Intensive specialized seminar for vocational school teachers: Focus on modern hardwood flooring technologies, installation techniques, and practical applications
The event proved to be a high-quality and practical professional development opportunity for vocational school teachers. The theoretical portion covered information on the current state of parquet technologies, installation techniques, design, and repair, and was demonstrated in a hands-on setting using the latest machines, tools, and products from Bona on Scheucher Parkett’s parquet floors. The combination of theory and practice made the seminar a complete success!
