Art meets parquet craftsmanship: a special project at the Ringelnatz Museum in Wurzen

Parquet Stories Current

When parquet flooring becomes not only interior design but also part of a cultural experience, something very special is created. This is what happened in Wurzen, the birthplace of Joachim Ringelnatz, in spring 2025. A unique project was realized in two museum rooms there - implemented by the dedicated installers of the association Parkettleger on Tour e.V. and with high-quality parquet from Scheucher, provided in cooperation with our long-standing partner Hinterseer.

A project with history and passion

The starting point was the idea of an association member and dedicated parquet layer who was inspired by the Ringelnatz Museum on the Baltic Sea. When the opportunity arose to redesign parts of the museum in Wurzen, the idea was quickly born: two rooms were not only to be resurfaced, but also artistically staged with a special parquet floor.

What followed was a joint project with extraordinary ambitions. Numerous participants - from the city administration and the Ringelnatz Association to curators, publishers and international guests - worked hand in hand to realize this special vision.

Parquet in thousands of pieces

Scheucher supplied around 180 m² of parquet material for this project - a carefully coordinated mixture of oak, ash, cherry and smoked oak. These woods were cut into thousands of individual pieces to create the intricate installation pattern - inspired by historic wallpaper and carpet patterns.

Thanks to the different surface qualities of our products, it was possible to work flexibly on site. Nevertheless, once all the elements had been laid and milled, the entire surface was sanded and resealed to achieve a uniform, harmonious appearance.

Tech meets craftsmanship: a project at the highest level

State-of-the-art tools were used for the artistic frieze inlays - including 18 milled views of the city, a large coat of arms and a Ringelnatz poem.

A strong network

The installers on site are long-standing and convinced users of our parquet floors.

Our close partnership with Parkett Hinterseer enables us to support such projects with excellent product availability and technical advice - we are now in our third year of supporting parquet layers on tour with high-quality materials and real expertise.

Combining culture, craftsmanship and quality

The ceremonial conclusion of the project with an open day, a visit to Colditz Castle and the official handover to the Mayor of Wurzen impressively demonstrated how craftsmanship, history and culture can merge in a high-quality parquet floor.

We are proud to have been part of this extraordinary project - and would like to thank everyone involved for the passion with which they showcased our parquet flooring.
