Hotel Jaumanns Südwind Sylt relies on oak parquet from Scheucher

Parquet Stories Current

Frisian inspired. Nordic reduced. Warm in detail.

In the middle of Sylt's unique dune landscape, where fresh North Sea air meets stylish design, a young hotel operator couple - Elisa and Gerrit - have put their heart and soul into creating a boutique hotel with 12 stylish rooms and a yoga room. The aim: a modern, timeless oasis of well-being with Frisian flair. A key design element here? Real wood parquet from Scheucher - more precisely, wideplanks in soft gray oiled oak.

Why Scheucher Parquet?

The contact with Scheucher Parquet came about through our long-standing specialist retail partner Schmitz Baukunst, who provided advice on the hotel project from the very beginning. “It was immediately clear to us that we needed a floor that was not only visually appealing, but also functional - and above all: tangibly genuine,” say the two hoteliers. They opted for high-quality oak parquet - a decision that combines aesthetics, feel and sustainability. The oiled surface brings out the naturalness of the wood particularly well and ensures a pleasant barefoot feeling - a noticeable quality feature for guests who value authenticity.

Naturalness meets feel-good ambience

In total, over 200m² of wideplanks in Oak Country Toskana Seda Nebla were installed in the rooms and in the hotel's own yoga room in the attic. The parquet with the greyish Nebla surface brings a light, calming atmosphere into the rooms with its subtle coloring - ideal for the style of the house: modern, stylish, yet Nordic-inspired and timelessly elegant.

"We wanted materials that are high-quality but not complicated. Real wood parquet was an absolute must for us - it breathes, it lives and it contributes to the quality of the indoor climate." A pleasant lighting concept is also one of the most important feel-good factors for Elisa and Gerrit.

Sustainability consistently implemented

Sustainability plays a major role in the hotel concept. From regional supply chains to energy supply - the aspiration to act in an environmentally conscious manner is evident everywhere. This was also a decisive factor in the choice of flooring: Scheucher parquet scores with responsible production and durability. “Especially in the hotel business, we need a floor that looks good in the long term, is easy to clean and retains its natural charm,” say the operators.

Installation: Precision right down to the island

The Scheucher parquet was also installed by Schmitz Baukunst - an effort that paid off: "The team made the journey to us on the island of Sylt - and everything went smoothly. Price-performance ratio? Top. Service? First class."

Parquet with impact - not just visually

The decision to install the parquet flooring in all the rooms and the yoga room was not only convincing from a design point of view. The light oak flooring adapts ideally to different furnishing styles and gives the rooms air and space. The scraped, gently undulating parquet surface gives every barefoot step an invigorating feeling. “We have selected the parquet so that it can be combined with different textiles and furniture - whether minimalist, maritime or cozy Nordic to suit the region.”

Conclusion: A floor that inspires. A hotel that inspires.

Whether in the stylish guest room or during sun salutations in the yoga room: the parquet flooring from Scheucher is a central element of the feel-good concept - for guests as well as for the operators. So it's no wonder that the couple's conclusion is clear: “We would recommend Scheucher Parquet at any time.”
